Gas ball valves are quarter-turn flow control devices that are design to outperform conventional ball valves in terms of performance, shutoff, and sealing. Gas ball valves exhibit such a compact and lightweight valve body design that increases their versatility and makes them suitable for a variety of applications aside from water service ball valves at high pressures and temperatures. As with other ball valves, gas ball valves operate on the same principle; they usually have a two-piece construction and a 14-turn shut-off. As such, they are a little different from the average ball valve. Before they can use in combustible gas applications, gas ball valves must be CSA-approve.
Gas ball valves are commonly use to transport flammable fluids, such as hydrocarbons, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), natural gases, and chemical vapors. They can also use in boilers, furnaces, gas stoves, as well as residential and commercial water heaters. For flow control applications that operate at high temperatures and pressures, gas ball valves are use. Considering the combustible nature of most of the working fluids, preventing leakage at the valves is crucial. Gas ball valves with metal seats or PTFE seats provide sealing and protect against fugitive emissions.
The ball valve is a type of shut-off valve that controls the flow of a liquid or gas by using a rotary ball with a bore. Rotating the ball 90 degrees around its axis allows the medium to flow through or block it. As a result, they have a long service life and provide reliable sealing throughout the life of the valve, even if it is not in use for a long period of time. Thus, they are more commonly use as shut-off valves than gate valves.
The ball is position between two seats and is attache to the operating and control mechanism by a shaft. When the cross-section of the bore is perpendicular to the area of flow, fluid cannot pass through the valve. As fluid flows through the valve, the flow rate is determine by the area of the bore that is expose to the floor.
Feature of Gas Ball Valves

Benefits of Gas Ball Valves
- Excellent Shut-Off Characteristics: The valves open and close quickly in response to pipeline pressure conditions. Backflows and contamination can be avoided with it.
- Versatility and Efficiency: The compact design of gas ball valves allows them to be used in a variety of industrial applications. Gas ball valves require simple actuation mechanisms and operate at low torques.
- Durability and Easy Maintenance: Over their service life, these valves provide excellent flow control and require very little maintenance.
- Strength: Often, high-temperature, high-pressure, and high-volume applications require reliable performance.
- Simple Maintenance: Dependable operation that is also easy to repair.
