One character that may make or ruin a film or web series is the villain. We have been writing and talking about cruel and horrible villains for decades.
Conversely, TV soap operas tended to include more female villains. We had only ever seen vampires in the guise of a mother-in-law, sister-in-law, or a renegade ex-lover who had turned stalker, etc.
Women artists have successfully entered the murky domain of anti-heroes over time. Some are so fierce that they can compete with well-known male villains. Modern Science Fictional and Fantasy female characters that dabble in the dark side in films and web series aren’t like TV vamps.
They retain us on the edge of our places with their unforgettable one-liners, killer clothes, and stunning beauty. Mostly, that is! Let’s examine the most compelling recent depictions of female villains.
- Harley Quinn
Joker is considered the evilest villain in Suicide Squad, but Harley Quinn, who doubles as his lover, is no less evil. She is snobby, vengeful, and completely insane. We were awake all night long watching her in Suicide Squad. As someone who turned to a life of crime, Harley Quinn epitomizes insanity and craziness.
She was content to indulge in any illegal activities. Still, over time (and with some assistance from Batman), she has evolved into an anti-heroine, even allying with Power Girl.
- Cruella
Estella is a driven, up-and-coming designer who enters haute couture without hesitation. She recognizes her uniqueness at a young age and tries to conform to social norms while embracing the outsider traits that make her a creative designer.
But as the movie continues, we anticipate seeing Estella gradually embrace her evil side, enhancing her abilities as a fashionista and bringing her closer to her new identity as Cruella.
- Maleficent
Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent was so enraged when she wasn’t invited to Aurora’s baptism that she cursed her to fall into an endless sleep. They say that hell hath no fury as a woman scorned.
Her extremities continued after this. She transformed into a fire-breathing dragon after being outwitted. It wouldn’t be incorrect to claim that this is perhaps Jolie’s most excellent film.
- Bellatrix Lestrange
Even though Lord Voldemort portrayed the bad guy in the Harry Potter universe, Bellatrix Lestrange still managed to give us the chills with her viciousness and desperate attempts to win over her master.
She enjoyed torturing and being harsh. Without even flinching, she killed her cousin Sirius Black. The beautiful Molly Weasley defeated her most spectacularly. Lestrange became an iconic figure thanks to her gothic appearance.
- Amy Dunne
Rosamund Pike’s portrayal of Amy Dunne in the 2014 movie version of Gillian Flynn’s best-selling thriller, Gone Girl, made us leap with fright. The cold-blooded lady devises a cunning plot to frame her worthless, philandering husband for her death to punish him for cheating on her.
- Captain Marvel
Before the Psyche-Magnetron changed Carol Danvers, she was already in superb condition. After that, Carol’s physique was enhanced with Kree DNA to the pinnacle of human athleticism. Her superhuman abilities include flying, increased strength, endurance, agility, durability, and nearly complete immunity to toxins and poisons.
In addition, Carol possesses a “seventh sense” that occasionally grants her precognitive flashes of the future, but the ability has largely faded away.
